Some highlights from Las Vegas by Dominic O’Brien. CES 2014 was dominated by a number of emerging areas including digital health, fitness and wearable technologies.
Digital health products included a huge range of connected sensor based devices including heart rate and blood pressure monitors, vital sign sensors and emergency alert systems with GPS technology.
Wearable technologies were are huge emerging area especially in the area of fitness with almost 20, vendors displaying fitness watches and bands that track the individual daily activity of the wearer.
Whilst significant space was given to phone accessories as in the past, both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi speakers dominated the consumer product range with over 50 vendors selling these products in the main hall alone.
Digital and interactive signage and displays continue to improve and costs are coming down significantly.
